Lt. Littlefield was awarded the Navy Cross for his part in sinking battleship Hyuga.
Two days later,
he was awarded the Distingushed Flying Cross for his part in sinking cruiser Tone.

|for extraordinary heroism in operations against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a carrier-based Navy Torpedo Plane in Torpedo Squadron EIGHTY-SEVEN (VT-87), embarked from the U.S.S. TICONDEROGA (CV-14), in action on 24 July 1945, while deployed over the Inland Sea of Japan.
