- Big T Leaving San Diego Sept. 1944 -
The Ticonderoga received five battle stars during World War II, three Navy Unit Commendations, one Meritorious Unit Commendation, and 12 battle stars for action during the Vietnam War.

The ship is hit by Kamikazes off Formosa in the
Phillippines over 100 killed and wounded. Big T's
crew somehow manages to get things under
control and save the crippled carrier.
